Linda Stegmann is an alumna of Leipzig University whose master’s thesis focused on the surtitling of a theatre production for hard-of-hearing audiences using smart glasses developed by the Berlin-based company Panthea. Awarded a prize for her research, Linda said: “I am very touched to have been awarded this international distinction. Moreover, I am delighted that those barriers which still exist in the theatre industry, particularly for the deaf and hard of hearing, can be overcome through different kinds of translation, and that these are gaining attention worldwide.”
