[S] OPERA EDITION | Royal Ballet and Opera

One of the world’s most prestigious opera venues, the Royal Opera House in London, chose Panthea’s innovations for the revamp of its surtitling system.

In 2022, following a highly competitive selection process,Panthea was chosen as the company to revamp the Royal Ballet and Opera’s surtitling services. Taking into consideration the unique and complex conditions of this historic venue, Panthea’s proposal involved displaying surtitles on one large central screen, together with two sets of secondary screens: smaller, custom-made LED screens measuring approximately 100 × 14 cm and individual Android screens integrated into the balcony railings.

Among the features that distinguished Panthea’s proposal and caught the attention of the RBO’s surtitling team was our specialised version of Spectitular, [S] Opera Edition.  The team was able to trial the features of this opera-optimised software first-hand during a visit to the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin.

Three years since we began working with the Royal Ballet and Opera, we are proud to add another leading London concert hall to our roster of partners. As of 2025, Wigmore Hall has also adopted  [S] Opera Edition for the surtitling of its concerts.
